Switchboard ventilation: requirements, snip, norms

Switchboard is a room or building where electrical equipment for various purposes is functioning. Only specially trained employees come here and work here. There are technical standards for the equipment of these rooms, including the requirements for ventilation of switchboards.

The supply and exhaust ventilation system with forced or natural air movement is installed in the electrical switchboards. The requirements for ventilation of the switchboard do not include heating or filtering the air.

Although the technical staff does not work constantly in switchboards, special conditions are necessary for the smooth operation of the equipment, including air exchange.

Design is carried out on the basis of SNiP ventilation in the switchboard SN 31-110-2003. It is also important to consider the amount and power of electrical equipment that generates heat. In any frost, the temperature inside the room should be from +5 to +20 degrees. Relative humidity should be kept at 30 to 60 percent.

As a rule, natural methods are used for ventilation of switchboards. But sometimes you have to resort to forced methods if the natural ones do not provide the established parameters.

Safety standards

An indispensable condition according to the norms of ventilation of the switchboard is the installation of fire dampers on ventilation ducts.

If a fire alarm is triggered, the drip stop the ventilation system. In addition, the ventilation duct outputs must be painted with a non-combustible light paint or tiled with light tile.

If in addition to the switchboard in the building there are halls or workshops requiring the same temperature indicators, they can be combined with a common ventilation system.

According to the requirements of SNiP ventilation in the switchboard, it is necessary to provide air exchange 3-5 times per hour.

Doors in switchboards

The ventilation standards of the electrical panel provide for special door designs. So, at the bottom and top of the doors it is necessary to equip the grilles for the movement of air masses. Doors should be metal. The grille on the doors is not equipped with blinds or a door; it must always be open.

If you close the holes, the air flow will stop through the doors, the equipment may overheat, catch fire or melt. You can order a special door for the switchboard to order. The main goal of ventilation of switchboards is the regulation of the temperature regime required for the operation of equipment.
