Mechanical methods for cleaning a cesspool

Cleaning the cesspools is an unpleasant but necessary procedure. Each summer resident or just the owner of a country house copes with it in his own way. Someone performs all the work on their own, and someone attracts specialists and equipment from the outside. In this article, we will consider exclusively mechanical cleaning methods, which have their advantages over chemical ones.

Cleaning methods

All methods of cleaning cesspools can be divided into 2 categories:

  • mechanical (manually, using a pump or a cesspool machine);
  • chemical (using biological products).

Consider mechanical methods, which, by the way, are more effective than chemical ones. The use of biological products delays the moment of mechanical cleaning, however, it has a number of advantages, for example, it effectively eliminates odor. In addition, the biological method facilitates and accelerates mechanical cleaning.

Pump cleaning

If you do not want to attract outside specialists, but want to effectively clean the cesspool, use the pump method. This method will require some preparation. In particular, you will need a large capacity for pumping waste and transport, with which you can take everything out of the site. However, this method has its advantages:

  • modern pumps have special floats, thanks to which cleaning can be carried out autonomously;
  • by plunging the pump and hose into the cesspool, you no longer need to monitor it. In the middle of the float there is a ball of metal, which, when rolled down, opens the chain and turns off the device. This not only saves your time, but also extends the life of the pump, preventing it from running idle;
  • many models of pumps for cleaning waste pits have a grinding mechanism.

The scheme for cleaning the pit when using the pump is as follows:

  1. Pump out the bulk of the fluid. Leave a quarter of the volume in the tank.
  2. With a high pressure of water, wash the walls of the pit and beat the sludge at the bottom. This will help the pump remove the sewage out.
  3. Pump out all remaining waste.
  4. Rinse the waste storage with water again.
  5. In the cesspool, renew the bottom filter.

Sewage must be pumped into a sealed container, which is then taken out and disposed of. There are special areas for the disposal of liquid toxic waste.

Cleaning with a cesspool machine

The easiest way is, of course, to turn to professionals for help. The pros and cons of this method are obvious.

Professional trash cans have the necessary equipment, tools and skills to make the process go quickly and efficiently. Each cleaning machine is equipped with a special set of equipment. Thus, your cesspool is not only emptied from sewage, but also the contents are taken out of the site.

Another advantage is that you do not need to do dirty work yourself, which is not particularly pleasant. The whole process is 100 percent automated, and you only need to manually control the machine from a distance, and even then - you will not be doing it.

The disadvantages of this method include the cost of the service. She is not transcendental, but not cheap. Some owners skimp on the services of scavengers. In addition, the owner of the site is required to provide access to the cesspool to the cesspool, which is not always easy to do.

Another drawback - after applying this method of purification, the soil begins to absorb water worse. Accordingly, with each week and month it is necessary to pump out sewage more often.

Pumping wastewater with a cesspool machine is as follows:

  1. The owner of the site chooses a company that specializes in these services. Please note that the company owns all the necessary certificates that allow you to take out and dispose of waste.
  2. Arriving car (another name - ilosos) must have all the necessary equipment: a vacuum pump, a tank, several control systems and a suction boom. If necessary, the machine can be equipped with other equipment.
  3. The whole process is automated. Waste unloading occurs by tipping the tank.

If the pit is not used very actively and irregularly, then you can call a special machine infrequently - about once a month. However, if several people who regularly use water-consuming appliances constantly live in the house, then a cesspool vehicle will have to be called almost weekly.

Do-it-yourself emergency cleaning

Some owners of private houses prefer to pump waste water on their own, without even using a pump. They use buckets and ropes. Of course, this method has a right to exist, but it is fraught with the following negative consequences:

  • sewer odor spreads very quickly throughout the site;
  • self-cleaning of the cesspool is quite laborious and requires a lot of time;
  • pumped waste must be disposed of somewhere.

In addition, be sure that by hand you are sure not to remove all waste from the pit. At a minimum, they will remain at the bottom and walls of the cesspool.

On the other hand, with the "grandfather" method of cleaning the cesspool, you will have to take care of your own safety. It is important to consider personal protective equipment, such as covered clothing, a respirator, and gloves. The mask will prevent the airways from corroding, and gloves will save your hands from unnecessary irritants. Fecal matter is toxic, therefore it is necessary to avoid splashing on exposed skin and mucous membranes. Since sewage emits toxic fumes, be sure to open the pit for ventilation for several days before performing work.

The manual cleaning process is very simple:

  1. Tie the bucket tightly onto the rope and scoop out the contents of the pit until you reach the bottom.
  2. Bring a hose to the open well and with a stream of water under pressure, circle the walls and the bottom in the pit. This will allow to bring down hard and greasy plaque.
  3. Next, one person descends to the bottom and carefully scoops up the remaining contents.
  4. At the top, an assistant (or several) awaits him, who take the container and pour the contents into the container prepared for waste.
  5. It is necessary to clean the bottom of the pit well so that after cleaning it is imperative to add a layer of small and large gravel. Otherwise, siltation will become a constant problem.

The advantages of this method include its low economic cost - in addition to a bucket and a rope, you only need a shovel. No need to spend money on buying a pump or calling a cesspool machine. However, the effectiveness of the method is extremely low, so after a while you will probably still turn to another method of mechanical cleaning.

Conclusion

The choice of method for cleaning the drain pit depends, firstly, on the frequency of use of the sewage system, and secondly, on the nature of the effluents. It is more profitable to use a mechanical method for pumping wastewater - using a sewage machine or a fecal pump. If you want to save money, you can do the cleaning of the pit manually, but this is not a particularly pleasant, long and energy-intensive process.
