Ventilation of showers and rooms

Shower Ventilation

Showers and bathrooms are classified as wet rooms. The best indicators of humidity for a person are from 45 to 65 percent. Increased humidity leads to a deterioration in well-being, the appearance of mold and fungus on the walls, decay of the finish and the structures themselves.

Heavy rotten air indicates poor ventilation performance in showers.

As a rule, in multi-storey buildings, ventilation of showers is carried out by the method of natural traction. Its intensity is in no way controlled by the tenants and often does not work at all. It affects the quality of shower ventilation and the weather.

An easy way to equip powerful and efficient ventilation of a shower room is to install a fan in an exhaust shaft.

The fan forcibly draws moist air from the room through the ventilation system of the house. The fan turns on when necessary, which significantly reduces energy consumption.

It is possible to somewhat automate the ventilation system of showers by purchasing a fan equipped with a humidity sensor. Such a device turns on automatically as soon as the humidity exceeds a certain level. Do not chase the most powerful fans. Power is selected based on the area of the shower.

If the fan is too strong, it can disrupt the general movement of air through the ventilation ducts of nearby apartments.

To ensure convection of the air masses, an inflow of air is required instead of exhausted. Therefore, under the door to the bathroom you need to leave a gap or make holes in its lower part. Most often, these measures are enough to normalize the humidity of the room and create comfortable conditions. Otherwise, you can also install a dehumidifier.

Ventilation of sealed showers

Many pressurized cabins are equipped with built-in factory ventilation of the shower cabin, insufficient for the effective removal of steam. The cheapest option for additional ventilation of shower cabins is an exhaust valve. If too much steam builds up in the booth, the valve opens and exhausts excess. As soon as the pressure inside and outside is equalized, it closes. The action diagram of a shower exhaust valve is similar to the operation of plastic window valves. But if the bathroom, where the shower is located, is not equipped with good ventilation, the system will not work.
