Do-it-yourself ventilation value in the chicken coop:
- Removes stench and excess moisture. Chickens, exhaling air, emit a lot of moisture, it also evaporates from drinking bowls, litter. The higher the humidity, the better the development of pathogenic microbes. And if the increased humidity is combined with cold air (in winter), the birds suffer from frostbite of the legs and respiratory diseases;
- Removes ammonia. Litter of birds decomposes with the release of ammonia. It is a toxic substance that is harmful to the health of adult chickens and chickens. If in childhood chickens inhaled a lot of ammonia, they will not rush well in adulthood;
- In summer reduces the temperature. Hens in the heat rush poorly, eat little. Ventilation in the chicken house enhances air movement and lowers air temperature.
There are two ways to do the ventilation in the chicken house with your own hands: natural and mechanical. The second method is resorted to with a large area and a large number of birds.

DIY ventilation in the chicken coop

The ventilation duct can be built from boards, it is divided into two trenches along the length: it enters one air, and is drawn from the other. The ventilation inlet is in the chicken coop, and the outlet is over the roof. At the exit, the pipe diameter should be about 30 cm. Boards of 50 mm fit tightly to each other, since cracks will impair traction. A thick board promotes better traction, because warm air, without cooling, is drawn out.
The ventilation duct should extend beyond the roof. A grill and an umbrella are placed on top of the exit. So that the wooden pipe does not stagger, it is attached to the roof rafters using metal brackets or wooden blocks.
