How to make a steam room (steam room) ventilation in a Russian bath

It’s no secret to anyone how to extend the life and prevent rotting of a Russian wooden bathhouse with properly selected ventilation. Air circulation in the steam room is carried out due to hot and cold air flows. The ventilation of the steam room takes place in three main modes: airing, waiting and active work.

How to arrange ventilation in a Russian steam room

For the stove in the steam room, you need access to cool fresh air that comes from the entrance side.

Therefore, it makes sense to build a bathhouse initially so that the door is closer to the stove. Plus, the door should have a ventilation hole or just make small gaps.

The exhaust air from the steam room is removed through a special outlet made on the opposite door to the wall at the level of a small indent from the ceiling. The diameter of the outlet can be about 10 cm. Under such conditions, ventilation of the steam bath will occur at the proper level, both in the mode of its active operation and in standby mode.

Upon completion of the bath procedures, the ventilation system of the Russian bath goes into ventilation mode, for which the entrance door opens for almost a day, the chimney, stove and ventilation outlets in all other rooms are left open.

Effective ventilation methods for steam rooms

The ways in which ventilation in the bathhouse really works are many thanks to the air vents, doors, vents, and other equipment. I want to note that in the steam room the air should be distributed in layers: the hot layers should go mixed with the cool. Due to a lack of oxygen, guests in the bathhouse may feel uneasy. Therefore, the ventilation inlet in the Russian steam room should not be located in its lower zone.

The holes for doors and windows, as well as the vent in the steam room should be done by a specialist, since all this must be done with the best quality. For the supply of fresh air in sufficient quantities, you need to make a hole for air exhaust and necessary traction half a meter from the floor closer to the heater.

It is necessary to provide the necessary exhaust air from the underground, especially if the heater chamber is located in the waiting room. If such work on the ventilation of the Russian bath is carried out by specialists, your floor will not only quickly heat up, but also quickly dry out. If the bathhouse has an attic, then it must be aired. However, in winter, it is recommended to close the attic tightly so that snow does not get into it.
