All about supply and exhaust valves for ventilation in PVC windows

Proper ventilation of apartments, single-family homes and other rooms is very important. Proper ventilation in the windows ensures optimal comfort in a particular room. It is worth noting that the vents provide sufficient air exchange indoors. Window diffusers also save energy. This is due to the controlled and optimal ventilation of rooms in which there is no need to open windows. This is especially important during the heating season. For these reasons, it is worth investing in good ventilation openings for windows.

Window vents

Window vents, also known as vents and aerators, are small devices that are usually very complex in design. These devices are used to ensure proper ventilation in the windows and, therefore, in the rooms in which they are used.

Aerators can have a completely different structure. The properties and parameters of these devices depend on how they are designed. First of all, it depends on whether it is possible to regulate the air flow supplied by them.

It is also worth noting that if the surface of the ventilated room is very large, it exceeds 20 m 2, then one diffuser may not be enough, and you need to use several fans to ventilate such a room. Diffusers are used in PVC windows.

Manual or automatic window diffusers

One of the criteria for separating ventilation openings for PVC windows is the way they are adjusted. Ventilation holes can be equipped with manual or automatic adjustment. Manually adjustable ventilation openings work on the principle of installing the appropriate shutter in the selected, as a rule, from several possible positions. It is worth paying attention to the fact that the effectiveness of this type of ventilation holes largely depends on the conscious work of the user.

However, automatic control makes the diffusers completely independent. The advantage of this solution is that it protects people from themselves, for example, before reducing or, ultimately, completely closing the air supply when the weather is cold. Such solutions provide proper ventilation.

Diffusers for PVC windows that have a constant cross-section, that is, the inability to adjust the size of the air supply opening, usually allow air to flow into the room, which depends on atmospheric conditions. In this case, this is due to the pressure difference inside and outside the room.

Part of this type of window ventilation openings has a special damper. Its closure causes a radical restriction of air flow. However, the diffuser cannot be adjusted until it is closed.

PVC window diffusers with pressure control

The ventilation in the plastic windows, which has a pressure adjustment, works automatically due to a change in the pressure difference outside and inside the room. Aerators of this type provide the interior space of the room with exactly the amount of air that occurs as a result of the pressure drop.

The hole that the air supplies remains open up to a certain pressure drop, which is the limit value. In a situation where this difference is still increasing, which can be caused, for example, by gusts of wind, the damper in the fan is turned off. This should prevent excessive airflow inside.

Humidifier and thermostatic diffusers

Hygroventilation fans are air vents that work automatically. Humidified diffusers for PVC windows work depending on the humidity in the room. This type of ventilation openings for PVC windows is equipped with a special sensor made of polyamide tape. This sensor is designed to open the fan shutter and, therefore, to increase the flow of air that enters the room when the humidity in the room increases. The sensor closes the diaphragm when the humidity in the room drops below a certain level.

This type of ventilation for PVC windows has a gap size control in the range of indoor air humidity from 35% to 70%. In a situation where the relative humidity is below 35%, the gap is minimal and no longer closes. However, if the relative humidity exceeds 70%, the diffuser is closed as much as possible and will no longer open. This type of ventilation causes large air exchange in rooms where moisture accumulates, for example in bedrooms at night.

Thermostatic diffusers work under the influence of changes in the temperature of the outside air, and this is an automatic operation. In a situation where the outdoor temperature drops below a certain value, usually 0 o C, the throttle valve decreases and the air supply decreases. This type of ventilation in the plastic windows controls the amount of air supplied and depends on the pressure difference between the outside and inside, as well as the size of the hole, which is determined by the thermostat. It is worth noting that these types of vents are quite large, and this is due to the design of the mechanism that controls the throttle. In connection with you, they are mounted in the walls.

Installation of ventilation windows in stages

Self-assembly of ventilation openings is not at all complicated and complicated. Although this is also not very simple. To properly install the diffuser on the window, we must have the appropriate equipment for this. Assembly can be given to professionals, but you can do it yourself with little skill. It should be noted that installing ventilation holes in the windows does not take much time and should take no more than 30-40 minutes.

Firstly, when installing the diffuser, it should be remembered that a correctly mounted one should be located in the upper part of the window. A nozzle that directs the flow of air into the ceiling should be located where the air is the warmest. It is also worth paying attention to the fact that the diffuser is not an obstacle when opening windows. Therefore, the breather should be installed in the center of the sash. Another solution is to move it in the direction of the handle.

The next step in the installation of the diffuser is the creation of special holes in the places proposed by the manufacturer and in accordance with his recommendations. Only in this case can we be sure that the fan will work correctly and will perform its task. A certain difficulty may arise if we want to equip an already installed window with a fan. In this case, it is extremely important to have and use appropriate specialized equipment. Thanks to such equipment, we can reach the edge, as well as make holes, usually oval. It should be noted here that for this purpose it is not recommended to use a conventional drill. This method will not ensure proper airflow.

It is very important to monitor the gain camera during assembly, since it cannot be broken, because this in turn can lead to a weakening of the structure of our window. It should be mentioned here that exposed steel elements are very susceptible to corrosion.
