Overview of reverse osmosis systems Atoll

Atoll water treatment system - these are household filters. Their task is to purify tap water to a drinking state. This improves the taste of the liquid and its smell. The company offers two types of filter systems: flow filters and reverse osmosis technology.

Atoll Flow Filters

Flow filter for three-level water purification

This is a compact device with which suspended particles, as well as metal salts and chlorine, are removed from water. Structurally, the filter of this model is a multi-level cleaning device, which includes three cartridge-type filter elements of the bulb type. Each flask has a cartridge made of different materials:

  • In the first flask are polypropylene fibers, with the help of which large impurities are retained: sand, rust plates, scale and so on.
  • Coal filling inside the cartridge. With its help, chlorine and salts of heavy metals are removed.
  • Another carbon cartridge that captures small particles of organic compounds. With its help, the taste of water and its smell are further improved.

Atoll flow filters are on the market in a wide variety. They differ in performance. The minimum filtering capacity is 3 l / min. Maximum - 8 l / min. This parameter is selected according to the number of people permanently living in an apartment or house. For example, the first model is installed in a house where no more than 4 people live. The second can be installed on a family of 8-10 people.

There are filters in the model line that differ from each other in additional functions. They are indicated in the marking with the letters of the Latin alphabet:

  • "S" - a filter that can reduce the hardness of the water, from which scale forms in household appliances;
  • “H” - the device retains the smallest suspended particles, and also easily copes with metal salts and bacteria;
  • "U" - the unit is equipped with a bactericidal lamp, which in the course of the movement of water kills bacteria, viruses and microbes in it.

To reduce the cost of flow filters, the company proposed a new modification, consisting of two cartridges. In terms of purification, they are inferior to three-level ones, but at a price much lower. They are recommended to be installed in city apartments in which water is supplied with preliminary treatment.

In autonomous water supply networks with water intake from wells, wells or open sources (ponds, lakes, rivers, etc.), it is better to install flow filters with three-level cleaning.

Reverse Osmosis Filters Atoll

Operation of the reverse osmosis filtration system

Filtering devices using reverse osmosis technology are the most effective in terms of water purification from a water supply system. Their distinguishing feature is a perforated membrane, which passes water molecules, but does not pass other substances, even dissolved ones. It's all about the diameter of the holes in the membrane, which does not exceed 0.0001 mm.

The membrane tank itself is an addition to the flask filter system, which purifies water in three stages.

  1. Coarse filter, which uses a cartridge in the form of polypropylene fibers.
  2. Carbon cartridge for pre-cleaning.
  3. Another carbon cartridge, whose task is to bring the purity of water to the maximum extent possible.

After the cartridge device is a reverse osmosis tank, which is divided into two parts by a membrane.The fluid enters one of the compartments, passes through the membrane openings under pressure, leaving all contaminants on the inside. The latter are periodically washed into the sewer, with which the reverse osmosis tank is connected by a hose.

The manufacturer offers two more models. One additionally has a coal-filled post-filter. Its task is to remove extraneous smacks and smells of water. Such a liquid can be stored for a long time in storage tanks and accumulators without changing its physical and chemical characteristics.

In another, a mineralizer is installed that saturates the purified water with minerals useful to humans. Such devices are marked with the letter “m” in the marking.

Reverse osmosis filter malfunctions

Unfortunately, a reverse osmosis filter is a device that responds to pressure inside the water supply network. If this parameter falls below 3 atm., The installation ceases to work correctly: the pressure drops, productivity decreases, and water is not treated.

There are other malfunctions of the Atoll filter with reverse osmosis:

  • cartridges filled with polypropylene fibers become clogged;
  • coal filling is clogged.

The manufacturer offers parts that are sold in stores. These are cartridges of all varieties. Doing it yourself is easy. The main thing is to strictly follow the instructions attached to the device.

Rules and features of installation and maintenance

Reverse Osmosis Filter Connection Diagram

Atoll filter mounting technology is no different from other brands. Install them in the kitchen in a cupboard under the sink. Connections are made with flexible hoses. The main thing is not to confuse the latter. The water pipe is connected to the bulb installation, a reverse osmosis tank with a tap installed on the kitchen sink.

There is no need to purchase components and products separately. Filter Atoll manufacturer is fully equipped. Its delivery includes:

  • the device itself;
  • connecting hoses;
  • faucet or mixer;
  • shutoff valves in the form of a valve, which is installed up to the filtering equipment;
  • tee;
  • a key made of plastic, which is used to open the flasks;
  • fasteners.

The manufacturer adds a hydraulic accumulator to the filter kit. It increases the price of the device, but this tank is a necessary thing. With its help, a certain amount of pure water is accumulated. With the help of a hydraulic accumulator, the required fluid pressure in the water supply network is provided. A kit together with a hydraulic accumulator is more often used in an autonomous water supply system operating from a pump with a water intake from wells and wells.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of Atoll filters are obvious. This is not only a high degree of water purification. The advantages of the device include ease of installation, simple maintenance, excellent design. One more advantage - replaceable cartridges. They do not need to be washed. The flask is opened with a plastic key, a cartridge that has expired, is pulled out, a new one is installed inside.

The disadvantages of all reverse osmosis filters are the same:

  • slow fluid cleaning;
  • high pressure in the water supply is required;
  • when cleaning the membrane, water is consumed, which is discharged into the sewer;
  • the membrane does not pass useful minerals.

Despite the decent cost of the devices and the above disadvantages, the Atoll filters are very popular. At the same time, experts give them a high rating. The product is certified. Its life depends on the quality of the installed membrane, which varies in the range of 3-5 years.
