How is digging wells under water and how much can it cost

Drilling your own well for water on the site is a good solution that will make the house detached and independent of central water supply. The quality of such water can always be monitored and adjusted if deviations occur. The cost of creating a well is quite acceptable for many owners of their own plots.

Preparatory work

Temporary digging designs

The digging of the water source must be planned in advance. Best of all - at the stage of building a summer house. Properly dig a well so that groundwater is close to the surface of the earth. It is important to consider that the source is as close to home as possible. All this will reduce the cost of digging and holding pipes.

However, it is better to build a well after the construction of the main building. This is due to the fact that during the construction of the house often used heavy equipment, which can damage the structure of the source.

The preparatory work also includes the timely purchase of all the necessary tools and materials. Materials must be purchased with a small margin, in most cases during the construction process additional consumables and tools will be required.

Tools, materials and their cost

For wells I often use reinforced concrete rings with a lock

The main consumable, the quality of which will affect the life of the well and ease of work, is a reinforced concrete ring. Reinforced material with or without a lock is usually used. Standard diameter - 1 m, height - 80 cm.

You will also need to install a house for a well or other protective mechanism, including a cover. The most efficient and convenient way is to use a plastic manhole cover that protects from rain and dirt, weighs little and is not subject to corrosion.

Some homeowners and customers prefer to use other materials for the hatch, for example, a cast-iron lid with a reinforced concrete base under it.

Reinforced concrete rings can be grooved for ease of installation, but there are options without them. They are cheaper, but require additional processing during installation.

Other elements that may be required for the construction of a turnkey well with the provided system for the diversion of water to other structures of the site:

  • metal and plastic pipes with a diameter of 0.8 m;
  • stainless steel sleeves for pumps from 124 to 154 mm in diameter;
  • mesh for bottom filter;
  • filter nets for repair work;
  • cement and gravel;
  • cable with a carbine;
  • quartz sand and pebbles of different fractions.

A more expensive version of the rings for the well is polymer-sand material. It has a lower weight, but is much more expensive than reinforced concrete structures.

The cost of basic materials - rings - starts at 1,500 rubles and can reach 2,000 without taking into account the price of digging a hole.

Of the tools required: crowbars, shovels, ropes, stairs, buckets. You may also need tripods with a lifting mechanism to lower the rings into the dug well shaft.

Stages of building a well for water

Stages: marking, digging, installing rings and a recess

The steps for creating a well in a summer cottage or in a private area are the same, regardless of whether the company is engaged in construction or the land owner himself. The algorithm looks something like this:

  1. Markup. With the help of restrictive tapes, pegs and ropes, markings are set in the intended place. Its diameter should be 10-30 cm larger than the outer diameter of the wall rings.
  2. Pit preparation. They begin to dig a hole with shovels up to a depth of 80 cm - to the standard height of the ring.Then the pit is necessarily leveled and the first ring is lowered to its bottom.
  3. Deepening the pit. Continue to dig a hole with undermining of soil under the installed ring so that it goes down. It is important to monitor the uniform lowering of the ring - it should not be skewed.
  4. Installation of the next ring. When the first element is almost hidden in the ground, the next ring is placed on it and connected to metal brackets.
  5. Dig up to the appearance of water at the bottom. As soon as the liquid appears, it is noted that they dig another depth of 1 ring and pump out the released water. To do this, use a drainage pump.

All joints and cracks between the rings in the walls of the elements are sealed with a prepared cement-sand mortar, since the structure must be airtight.

After the main stage of construction, water is additionally 3-4 times completely pumped out of the well. After that, a three-layer filter is put to the bottom. Outside, the walls are insulated to the level of soil freezing, then a sand-gravel mixture is poured between them and the edges of the pit.

The given example of work is based on the neat method of digging a well. If you use another method, when you first dig a hole, only then install all the rings, the steps of the algorithm change somewhat.

Formation of the cost of work

Digging with a yamobur is sometimes more expensive than manually

The cost of drilling water wells includes various expense items. However, they may be smaller or larger depending on the following factors:

  • Terrain and soil features. The cost of drilling hard and soft soils will vary. However, soft does not always mean comfortable, because the risk of a collapse remains.
  • Depth of the well. The lower this figure, the cheaper it is to dig a well.
  • The number of rings used. Directly depends on the depth of the digging shaft. Consumption also goes to sealing materials and related items.
  • Delivery of materials. If you cannot bring everything yourself, you will need to hire a car. In some cases, sellers offer free shipping. However, usually you have to pay extra for it.
  • Soil removal. If it is not possible to apply a large amount of soil in the area, it must be disposed of. They do it on their own or hire the appropriate service.
  • The method of construction. There are two methods, the first is digging a shaft and installing rings after completing the first stage. This is the easiest way, but to implement it you will have to hire a special crane. The second method requires increased accuracy and implementation experience. A mine is dug inside a ring located in the ground and lowered as the pit deepens. When the ring approaches ground level, the next ring is placed on it. This method does not require a lifting machine.

The average cost of all elements and works can be cited conditionally. After all, all these factors, under adverse circumstances, can increase prices by almost 2 times, and with good characteristics of the site, they will save up to 50%.

Table of the final cost of the well:

Number of rings Depth Price rings Digging cost
10-15 8-12 m 16-24 thousand from 18 to 30.5 thousand
16-20 12.8-16 m from 25 to 32 thousand from 33 to 45 thousand
21-25 17-20 m from 33 to 40 thousand from 48 to 63 thousand

Ring and job prices may vary by region.

Drilling a well for water on its own site is an expensive but worthwhile business. This allows you to abandon the central water supply, get the best water treatment and the ability to answer independently for the water supply of the house and the plot.
