How to make a homemade drill for a well

Owners of their own land plot need to do most or all of the work on arranging communications independently. It is important for owners of summer cottages to have tools for all occasions. But in construction stores, they are expensive, and not everyone can afford it, especially pensioners. To save money, you can make a drill for the well with your own hands.

Why do I need a hand drill

The drill is designed to make holes in the ground for different purposes.

Each owner must have a hand tool for drilling in a country house. Situations in which you may need to make a hole in the ground:

  1. If there is no centralized water supply, you can dig a bailer to get drinking fluid from the underground aquifer.
  2. To build a greenhouse in the garden, you need to bury the mounts to a depth.

Also, the drill will become indispensable in the arrangement of the landscape and the system for discharging water from the suburban area.

Types of boreholes for wells

There are several types of bore holes that can be made by yourself using the chasing method, depending on your needs. There are three main types of drills:

  • screw;
  • shock;
  • spoonful.

It is not necessary to be limited to only one; you can make a drill in different variations. In all cases, certain tools will be needed, since it will not work to make a well without equipment by means of water pressure.

All three species presented perform one function, but the scale and conditions in which they are applicable vary. A spoon tool will be needed for small digging short flaps in soft soils. Screw (screw) is useful for wells of medium depth in not the hardest soil. To make a hole in hard rock, you need a massive impact mechanism.

Screw tool

A helical drill is also often called auger. It owes its name to the shape of the pipe, on which one continuous or several curved plates are installed along the entire length of the spiral.

Operating principle

The tool is placed vertically above the place of the future bailer. Then you need to push on the handles so that the tip of the pipe sticks into the soil. Having exerted physical force, it is necessary to start scrolling it around the axis in the direction in which the spiral-shaped plates begin to deepen into the rock.

The earth from the holes in the soil will gradually be delivered to the surface through the plates. The rock lying on the blades will exert additional pressure with immersion of the tool, which allows the worker to press less weight on the handles. At the same time, efficiency increases, as the owner is less tired and can continue the process longer.

Making a screw tool

To make a drill, you will need:

  • pipe 1–1.5 m long;
  • a pipe of a smaller diameter or an oblong metal plate of arbitrary shape up to 0.5 meters long;
  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine;
  • metal cone with a sharp tip;
  • strong steel sheets;
  • rubber;
  • industrial glue.

The process of making a screw drill with your own hands begins with the preparation of a drawing. Schematically depict the device itself and its details, write the sequence of actions.

Weld the cone to one end of a long pipe. It will be a point cutting into the soil. Then, from the back, attach a second pipe or steel bar that acts as a handle. The base is ready.

The next step is fixing the screw parts. Cut the sheet metal with a grinder according to pre-drawn shapes so that it can be bent and connected to the pipe with one of the edges. It needs to be shaped and welded to the base.In conclusion, you need to take care of convenience - rubber handle. Put glue on it, wrap it tightly with rubber and wait until it dries. Manual drill for the well is ready.

Making a spoon type

Spoon drill

Unlike the other two, this tool has compact dimensions. It is needed in order to quickly make a shallow hole in the upper soil layer.

How it works

A spoon drill is a device similar to a spoon: it has a length of 10 to 50 cm and the shape of a pipe twisted along its axis, which has a narrow hole on one side along the entire surface. At one end is a holding handle.

To drill a hole in the soil with it, you need to firmly take it into the brush, put it at the required angle to the ground and push it while scrolling. As soon as it begins to enter a depth, excess earth will leave the cavity through a side notch located on the side. This method of drilling is not suitable for soils of medium and high hardness, as well as rocks, therefore it is used mainly for horticultural purposes.

How to make a spoon drill

The following tools and materials will be needed:

  • short metal tube, preferably with thin walls;
  • machine for carving metal;
  • industrial glue;
  • rubber for the handle;
  • welding machine;
  • a small sheet of steel sheet;
  • pair of vise;
  • iron rod or large diameter bolt.

It is necessary to give the scooping part the correct configuration. Cut a narrow strip along the entire length of the walls so that a hole remains from it. Fasten with two different ends in a vice and rotate along the axis so that the tube takes a spiral shape.

Since the pipe is hollow, one edge must be covered with a metal plate by welding, and then an iron handle should be attached to it. It must be coated with glue over the entire surface and wrapped with a layer of rubber so that you can hold the device with your bare hands. For easier entry into the soil, you can sharpen the edges of the pipe with a machine, making it sharper.

Impact drill for wells

The size of the impact drill approximately corresponds to the growth of a person, and the drilling process itself occurs without direct physical effort on the part of workers.

What is an impact drill

Drawings of a home-made drill for a water well in this case are especially useful, since it is necessary to manufacture a more complex mechanism with a large number of parts.

Impact drill - a kind of ram, which own mass pierces a hole in the ground. It is very useful for making holes in dense rock, where it is not possible to make the bellow manually.

How to make a hammer drill

Required construction tools:

  • three long strong beams or thick pipes;
  • a block for a rope or steel cable;
  • metal cable;
  • load for weighting;
  • sharp tip;
  • spring;
  • pipe for percussion mechanism.

A tripod is welded from metal beams on which the entire mechanism will be held. It is advisable to collect it immediately above the drilling site so that it does not have to be moved. There are two ways to do this: simply weld with a welding machine or make the structure collapsible for ease of transportation.

A block is attached to the junction of the beams, through which the cable should be pulled. You can wind and release it manually or using an electric motor.

Tripod construction is desirable to give stability. Install her legs in the recesses made by the puncher. The percussion mechanism consists of 3 parts: pipe, tip and load. A weighting compound can be fixed from the top edge so that a collision with the ground is more effective.

The impact mechanism must be connected to the cable, the second end of which is passed through the block. Now you need to pull the cable to raise the drill up. From the highest possible height it must be dropped to the ground. Repeat the method until the shock reaches the desired depth.
