What to rely on when choosing accessories for water purification filters

For high-quality tertiary treatment of tap water or treatment of well / well, it is convenient to use autonomous systems. They do not take up much space, effectively cope with their tasks. Replaceable filters for water purification are especially popular. System maintenance is simple and understandable even to a novice master. In order to ensure a consistently high quality of liquid purification, it is important to procure and change treatment components in plants on time. The frequency of such actions depends on the volume of fluid passed through and the type of filter used.

Types of parts for water filters

Reverse osmosis filter

If a reverse osmosis installation is used in the house, the following spare parts are useful:

  • Flask for filters. It has the shape of a cylinder. The transparent case is made of durable and environmentally friendly plastic. When replacing a cartridge, be sure to wash the flask with running water.
  • Replaceable cartridges for each of blocks. The frequency of their replacement is 4-6 months.
  • Key. A special tool that helps to dismantle the flask with a filter tab and install it back.
  • Pressure regulator. Corrects atmospheric levels on both sides of the membrane.
  • Flow limiter. It controls the volume of purified liquid in relation to the discharged into the sewer.
  • Pressure boosting pump. Especially useful to residents of the upper floors in the house.

If necessary, for the reverse osmosis installation, you can use the storage tank, if the space under the sink in the apartment allows. The tanks have a volume of 5 to 20 liters.

Spare parts for integrated water treatment plants

The following components are subject to periodic replacement:

  • Sorption fillings from wood, coconut and other coals.
  • Salt tablets for mineralization of the liquid.
  • Replaceable flask cases.
  • Control valves.
  • Coarse and fine filters.

In such installations, water undergoes several degrees of treatment - removal of suspended impurities, deferrization, desalination, neutralization of chlorine and nitrates, enrichment with minerals.

Accessories for sorption equipment

These types of treatment systems work when using special sorption backfills. Thanks to them, the liquid gets rid of harmful impurities that settle in the bookmarks, making it difficult for water to pass through all layers of the cartridge over time. Therefore, a regular change of coal filler is necessary.

Thanks to the sorption layers, the taste and color / smell of the liquid improves many times. To improve the capabilities of the cleaning cartridge, ion-exchange components are added to the coal. They neutralize bacteria, petroleum products, pesticides and nitrates, heavy metals.

The efficiency of the sorbent depends on the size of its granules, the temperature of the liquid being treated, and the pH of the water.

Spare parts for nozzles

Filter nozzle for crane

This type of treatment plant is presented in the form of a part screwed onto a tap. Such a filter is flowing. It does not produce large volumes of fluid per unit time, but it works properly. The main thing is to change gaskets for water filters in time.

Filter jug

This is the easiest type of treatment equipment in the house. It works on the principle of a container into which water is collected and then passed through a coal cartridge installed in the lower part of the tank. Thus, already processed liquid is collected in the receiver.

The main replaceable element of the jug is a carbon cartridge. This is a plastic flask with several layers of filtering backfill. Water passes these levels and is cleared of impurities.

In carbon filter jugs, the filling density is not very high. Otherwise, 2-3 liters of water would have passed through the cartridge for too long.

Component quality

All consumables for treatment systems must meet the following requirements:

  • manufacture in accordance with GOST and sanitary standards;
  • good working resource;
  • quality of the materials used.

When buying a spare part, pay attention to its price. Moreover, a cheap solution is not synonymous with a bad one.

How to choose filter parts

All removable components require periodic replacement. You need to select them by the following parameters:

  • Manufacturer. As a rule, each manufacturer offers its customers branded consumables. If you neglect this and buy, say, a cartridge for the Barrier jug from the manufacturer Aquaphor, it will not fit the thread cross section or the height of the receiving tank.
  • Goal, task. Before buying a replacement cartridge, you need to determine its main function - softening, iron removal, getting rid of chlorine, etc. For this, it is recommended to conduct a complete analysis of the water.
  • If you buy a separate coal filling, it is acquired by the size of the granules and the type of sorbent. Granules of certain parameters are designed for each type of such a filter plant. If you buy smaller ones, they will pour out together with water under the force of flow. If you purchase larger granules, the liquid through them will pass faster than necessary. Thus, defective water treatment occurs.
  • The size of the membrane tab. It is calculated in microns. For the front flasks, membranes with 0.5 μm cells are designed. For distant - 1 micron.

Before buying a replacement element, it is important to figure out whether the master will be able to replace it himself or it is better to invite a specialist.

Installation sequence

Filter jug with replaceable cartridges

When replacing a filter cartridge, the wizard’s actions change depending on the type of treatment equipment. The procedure for installing water purification cartridges for a jug is as follows:

  • An old cassette is unscrewed from the receiving tank counterclockwise.
  • Both flasks (lower and upper) are washed with running water.
  • The new cartridge is freed of packaging and screwed into the threaded hole clockwise. The cassette should be located as a result of perforation down.
  • The receiving tank is inserted into the bottom.

The first portions of water passed through the cartridge are best drained. They collected the remains of coal dust from the cassette.

Replacing the water filter cartridge

The replacement of the membrane element in reverse osmosis plants is performed as follows:

  • Shut off the water supply to the kitchen or to the house / apartment.
  • Open the cold water tap. This allows you to relieve pressure in the system and more easily remove the flask with a membrane.
  • Disconnect the adapters (adapters), hoses leading to the unit and unscrew it using a special key. It often comes with equipment. First, you need to substitute a container under the flask to discharge residual water into it.
  • Empty the reservoir from the old tab and rinse with running water.
  • Load a new membrane / backfill / cassette and install the flask following the reverse sequence: screw on the tank, connect the pipes to it.
  • Open the water supply to the house and check the tightness of the system.

When changing cartridges, it is advisable to coat all sealing gum with silicone sealant or at least petroleum jelly. This will preserve their elasticity and extend their service life.

If the master needs to clean the hot water, you will have to install a main filter. More often they use carbon fillers. The replacement of the backfill is carried out by analogy with the change of the membrane in the reverse osmosis filter.
