It is necessary to filter the liquid from the tap - its quality is deteriorating every year. With autonomous water supply from a well or well, it is also better to install filtering devices. In order for them to serve for a long time, they need to be periodically cleaned of impurities or replaced.

Frequency of cleaning water filters

The frequency of cleaning the filter depends on its design and the composition of the water.

Filtration devices pass water through them, stopping suspensions of various sizes. To ensure that these residues do not interfere with the further passage of the water stream, the equipment requires periodic flushing. If such a cleaning method is not possible, for example, in terms of cartridge devices, they are replaced with new ones. If this is not done, pumping equipment will come into disrepair, which will begin to work idle.

Typically, cartridges are changed every six months, and membranes for reverse osmosis devices - every three years. At the same time, it is advisable to clean the flask from plaque. Abrasive products and melamine sponges are not suitable. The former are able to disrupt the surface structure of the flask, the latter are able to leave their particles on it. It is safest to use home remedies - vinegar and citric acid.

The frequency of cleaning of mechanical coarse cleaning devices depends on the amount of large suspensions in the water. If there are few of them, the sump will work without maintenance for more than one year, and the sump will hardly fill up. But sometimes such filters need to be cleaned almost every two weeks. At least after such a time it is worth checking the condition of the filtering devices.

Cleaning cartridge devices is not always possible; some devices require replacement of filter elements. And sometimes you need to bring the concentration of reagents to the desired level.

How to clean the filter depending on the type of cartridge:

The most popular cleaning devices are coarse filtration systems in the form of a metal or polymer mesh. Depending on the size of the cells, they are able to hold contaminants of different sizes.

The cleaning of such a device is carried out through the drain of the sump.

  1. Before the procedure, they shut off the water supply using shut-off valves or contact the housing department with a statement so that the specialist shuts off the water in the basement.
  2. An adjustable wrench unscrews the outlet on the sump. If he does not get the right node, you can use a car candle key. If the cap is tight, use engine oil. To do this, fill it with a syringe on the connecting section between the cover and the outlet.
  3. Check the condition of the sealing part on the cover. If the gasket is thinned, it also requires replacement. Otherwise, a leak will occur in this place in the near future.
  4. After opening the lid and verification procedures, the mesh part is removed and washed under high pressure water flow. If silt or other hard-to-clean dirt adhered to the mesh, you can use a brush, for example, an old toothbrush.

Assemble the filter device in the reverse order. A mesh part is inserted into the sump, secured by a gasket, the cleaning device is inserted into the outlet, the lid is wrapped with a key. The unit is checked for leaks: there should not be water droplets after turning on the water supply.

If you approach the cleaning of filtering devices correctly, you can significantly extend the life of cleaning devices, save on the purchase of new cartridges and prevent the wear of the entire water supply system.
