Ventilation in residential buildings, premises and public, SNIP

SNiP 41-01-2003 or Building Norms and Rules of the Russian Federation developed by the State Committee for Construction and Housing and Utilities. The document has a special section on the ventilation of residential and public buildings. SNIP ventilation of residential and public buildings are used in the construction of ventilation, air conditioning, heating and heat supply in buildings, except:

  • shelters, mines, storage facilities for explosive substances, facilities for working with radioactive substances,
  • electrical installations, buildings with vacuum cleaners.

When compiling the SNIP for ventilation of residential buildings, GOSTs were used for sanitary requirements for noise, air and microclimate parameters in buildings. As well as SNiP on fire safety, protection against heat, noise, construction climatology.

Air parameters according to SNiP

According to SNiP of ventilation of residential buildings, the air temperature in residential premises during an unused period should not be lower than +15 degrees, in domestic premises not lower than +12 degrees, in production shops not lower than +5 degrees.

The ventilation systems of residential buildings must provide, within the established standards, the air velocity in the apartments, relative humidity.

For the warm season, temperature and humidity in residential premises are not standardized.

Purpose of air ventilation

Ventilation and air conditioning are used to achieve the air and microclimate required for this room.

Supply ventilation is installed if:

  • Natural ventilation in residential premises is not able to provide the necessary air parameters;
  • There is no way to organize natural ventilation.

According to SNiP, ventilation of residential premises can be planned in a combined type using natural draft for blowing or inflow of air. When calculating the natural ventilation of residential premises, the calculated temperature difference is 5 degrees.

In accordance with SNiP for ventilation of residential premises, systems are equipped for rooms located within the boundaries of one fire compartment. It is allowed to combine residential and administrative premises into one fire compartment.
