The use of flexible ventilation hoses: features of installation and operation

Now in production and in everyday life it is difficult to imagine the absence of a hood. It should be wherever there is a need for it. Its essence boils down to providing people with clean fresh air. Spent, filled with steam or smoke - take out.

Application and materials

Ventilation sleeveA flexible ventilation sleeve is also called an air duct. This is one of the main components of the duct hood. Connected to each other, they transport air. Ducts are equipped with internal ventilation elements. They contain automatic systems, heaters, fans, fire dampers. This is a complex complex that serves to clean the air, and for a comfortable stay of a person at the place of his activity.

Sleeves can be either solid or flexible. They are used in different places - the first in enterprises, the second in production and in everyday life.

In metallurgy, woodworking, chemical industry, automotive industry flexible ducts are used quite often. They remove gases, steam, smoke from the premises. They can vent or supply cold and hot air.

Air ducts are most often made of such materials: PVC, fiberglass, vinylurethane and others. Sleeves made of these materials can be of standard length, diameter and color. Sold in cardboard boxes in a compressed state. They are made to order, with individual parameters. The kit may also include nipples, clamps, clamps.

Installation of flexible ventilation hoses

Compliance with some rules during installation:

  • before fixing, the inner part should be stretched to eliminate bends, the excess cut off;
  • a stock of length in order to make a subsequent alteration or repair is not necessary to leave;
  • when entering the wall, adapters must be used to avoid various deformations;
  • pick up wide enough suspension brackets to guarantee the safety of the shell.

Cutting Rules:

  • the exhaust pipe is leveled and the necessary length is measured;
  • mark with a soft marker;
  • cut directly along the turn with a special tool or a sharp knife;
  • the dart is bitten by side cutters or nippers.

Flexible ductsConnections:

  • are made using a sleeve (nipple), aluminum self-adhesive tape or mastic;
  • screed for fixation take nylon or metal;
  • the duct must go into the pipe 50 mm or more;
  • Before the connection process, you need to make sure that the selected mastic and duct are compatible;
  • when taking the hood into operation, make sure all joints are tight.

Fixation points:

  • if there is a need to install vertically, then the distance between the points of attachment should be 1-1.8 m;
  • when turning, the bending radius should be larger than the diameter of the duct;
  • depending on the type, the length between the fixing points can be 1-3 m;
  • sagging of the exhaust pipe should not exceed more than 50 mm / m.

Features of use

In order to connect two sleeves together in turns and to achieve tension between them, it is necessary to use metal bends, in which the rotation angle is regulated. If necessary, semi-rigid connectors can be used. Great attention must be paid when connecting rigid and flexible ducts, as well as with different diameters.

Operation restriction

Today, a flexible ventilation sleeve is widely used. But still there are cases when their use is considered inappropriate:

  • air passing through them will have a temperature higher than indicated on the instructions;
  • when the degree of their heat resistance is not taken into account;
  • in direct sunlight, and other atmospheric influences, if they are operated outdoors, and do not have special protection;
  • when mounting in vertical risers, to a height exceeding more than two floors;
  • in contact with abrasive materials or aggressive media.

Masking ventilation ducts

To hide the duct, you can use these methods:

  1. Buy a built-in hood, it will be closed by hanging cabinets.
  2. Decoration - painted to match the color of the furniture, you can wallpaper.
  3. With a false ceiling, you should hide the exhaust duct in it.
  4. As an option - they get a decorative plastic box, the size of which should correspond to the size of the duct. In it, if desired, you can mount a spotlight. It will be a great solution.

When buying a hood, you must purchase the appropriate duct. It can even be sold bundled. In this case, they will be made in one color, and should be organically combined with each other. You can buy individual components of ventilation, but you should be vigilant so that the exhaust parameters coincide with the parameters of the pipe opening. If not, such a system will be ineffective.

For a satisfactory result, it is better to invite a specialist for the installation of the hood, because this design should serve you for many decades.
