Choosing an electric boiler for heating 100 square meters

For autonomous heating in an apartment or in a house, a boiler is needed - gas, wood, electric. Choose an option for power and efficiency. An electric boiler for heating a house of 100 square meters is a powerful unit. It needs to be connected to a three-phase network - at 380 volts. Installation is allowed only by decision of the Energy Supervision.

The use of electric boilers for heating a house of 100 square meters

For heating a small room up to 100 square meters. m need a low power electric boiler

With all the advantages of an electric boiler, its use costs a round sum. Therefore, when choosing a model, cost becomes the second most significant factor after power. Economic considerations limit its use:

  • Installing an electric boiler is justified if the house does not live permanently in the winter and only arrives for the weekend. The unit provides rapid heating of the premises, and in 2 days does not have time to wind a lot of electricity. Of the proposed models, choose the cheapest: its cost will for a long time cover the cost of electricity.
  • If you live permanently in a house, it is beneficial to combine an electric boiler with a gas or solid fuel. The electric device turns on when the main boiler for some reason does not work. In this case, for heating a house of 100 square meters. m. enough apparatus with a capacity of 3-6 kW. It is connected to a single-phase network.
  • The most disadvantageous solution is basic heating with an electric unit. But when the installation of a gas or solid fuel is not possible, choose this option, trying to choose the most economical model.

For stable operation, the electric boiler is connected through a stabilizer. If it plays the role of the main source of heat, it is advisable to purchase also a generator in case of blackout.

Varieties of electric boilers

Aggregates are classified according to a variety of characteristics. Boilers are single and double circuit - capable of also heating water for hot water supply, floor and wall, single and three phase. For the consumer, the method of heating is of interest:

  • TENovy - the cheapest, but also the most uneconomical option. Its efficiency is not higher than 80%, the heating elements quickly become coated with plaque, which affects the heat transfer. As an auxiliary source of heat, such a model is suitable.
  • Electrode - efficiency above 90%, heats water instantly. During installation, the apparatus must be grounded.
  • Induction - the manufacturer promises an efficiency of 99%. This efficiency is achieved due to the smooth regulation of power without peak loads.

The energy consumption in the electrode and induction boiler can be reduced by selecting a control unit.

Hand operated

Management is a vernier with which to establish the degree of heating. It is impossible to indicate the temperature of the coolant. You can only monitor the parameters of heated water empirically. Such models are equipped with safety systems - during power surges or insufficient pressure, they are turned off, preventing a short circuit. However, the device cannot signal the owner about problems or problems with energy supply.

Electronically controlled

4.5 kW electric boiler with programming modes

The temperature controller involves finer tuning of the work. The device does not evaluate the temperature of the coolant, but the temperature of the air in the room - it works until the room really becomes warm. At the same time, it becomes possible to change the indicated temperature so that the boiler, for example, at night, heats rooms to a lower temperature and saves electricity.

The unit is equipped with an LCD display. It displays the current mode, air temperature in the room, the operation of the boiler.

The temperature controller can be installed later if the device of the electric boiler allows fine tuning.

With programmers

A 100 m2 electric boiler with a programmer allows you to configure the mode of operation immediately for a week. The consumer indicates the temperature in the room during the day, evening, night for 7 days. This reduces electricity costs. If there is nobody in the house, the boiler reduces the intensity of heating, and an hour before the owners arrive, it increases so that by the time they appear in the house it is warm and cozy.

Specifications

A 10 kW main-use boiler must be connected to a three-phase network

All electrical units have a minimum weight, are compact, easy to handle. Any of them can be installed independently. Select the device for other parameters:

  • Power - each model can only heat a certain area. Boilers with indicators of 3–6 kW are designed to heat 50–60 square meters. m. For heating 100 square meters. m. an aggregate with a capacity of at least 10–10.5 kW is required. But if the boiler is only an auxiliary source of heat, they buy a model of the lowest power.
  • What consumption does an electric boiler assume for heating a private house of 100 m2 is the second most important factor. Information on energy consumption is indicated in the instrument manual. In this case, its efficiency is taken into account. The indicators of the heating element will have to be reduced by 20%. The efficiency of induction is close to 100%, therefore, its nominal parameters are considered actual.
  • Single or three phase - the main electric boiler per 100 square meters. m. can only be three-phase.
  • Additional options - pump type, control method.
  • Execution - floor or wall. They do not need additional ventilation or a chimney, so you can install the boiler in any room.

Other factors influence the choice: the ability to heat water, the number of heating elements, the method of adjusting power.

Advantages and disadvantages

The boiler does not need a chimney, fireproof

The advantages of an electric boiler are many:

  • No open fire - this is the safest firefighting device. Even in the event of a short circuit, fire is excluded.
  • The boiler is mounted and configured independently. You can change the settings at any time.
  • The boiler does not need a chimney, ventilation, insulation. Install the device in any convenient place.
  • Very high efficiency - up to 99%.
  • Repair is not difficult: the design is simple, spare parts are always available.
  • The cost is relatively low.

The disadvantages are also significant:

  • Electricity is the most expensive type of fuel. Heating a house in this way will cost a considerable amount.
  • Stable operation of the unit provides a current with a constant sufficient voltage. Outages and power surges will quickly disable the device.
  • When you turn off the electricity in the house it gets very cold very quickly.

To heat a private house up to 100 m2, a three-phase electric boiler is required. If such a decision is made during construction, the appropriate wiring is immediately laid in the project. If later - the wiring will have to be changed.

Electricity heating costs

Calculating the exact cost in advance is difficult. Rough calculations are made as follows:

  • The induction boiler produces 99% of the energy consumed. A 12 kW unit consumes 12.1 kW. Another 60–150 W is taken by the circulation pump in the system. However, this value is maximum. In fact, the boiler runs at full power quite rarely and on average during the heating season it consumes from 40 to 70% of the calculated energy, that is, 12 kW * 0.5 * 24 = 144 kW per day.
  • The calculated value is multiplied by the current tariff. For example: 144 * 5.8 rubles * 30 days = 23,241 p. per month.

To reduce consumption, it is recommended to install a multi-tariff meter. It differentiates consumption by time of day. Correctly adjusting the heating mode, you can save up to 14 thousand rubles per month.

Connection of an electric boiler to the heating system

Installation is permitted anywhere, but the device must be protected from moisture, access to it must be restricted. Therefore, it is undesirable to put the boiler in the bathroom. Heating elements can be mounted in the kitchen and in the hallway - they are not afraid of moisture, but then the heating main will have to be laid in this room. In fact, the boiler almost always ends up in a separate technical room.

Install an electric boiler for heating a private house of 100 square meters. m. according to the instructions. Comply with some general recommendations:

  • Most models are wall mounted. If the wall is sheathed with wood, it is recommended to insulate this area.
  • The boiler must be freely accessible.
  • A free area is left near the induction boiler, since next to it it is necessary to fix the pump and the expansion tank.
  • Cables are placed above the heating and sewer pipes so that in case of leakage the wire does not flood.
  • The housing is connected to a ground bus. If it is not, they build a ground loop and lay it in the boiler room.
  • The supply and return pipes are fixed in the corresponding nozzles and fixed.

Connection schemes use different, depending on the type of device. If the boiler is not equipped with its own tank or pump, these devices are cut into the return line.
