Replacing air conditioning tubes and flaring them

The need to replace the air conditioning tubes is not often encountered by users. Trails are usually hidden under boxes or walled up in a wall.

Replacing the air conditioning tubes

Replacing the air conditioning tubes is a very expensive undertaking. Especially when the highway is walled in plaster. The need for such work is most often associated with the acquisition of a new air conditioner, more modern and powerful. If the equipment has worked for many years, oil mixed with wear products accumulates in the line. Gradually, the sediment cokes and turns into a fairly dense mass. Cleaning thin, long and crimped tubes is very difficult. Therefore, you have to completely change the track.

Unfortunately, in home systems it is not possible to replace the air conditioning tubes with hoses.

Therefore, you must purchase:

  • a copper pipe of the required diameter (usually 1 \ 2 inches);
  • air conditioning tubing insulation.

The old track is removed very carefully.

Rolling Copper Tubes

Rolling is the deformation of the ends of the tubes in a certain way for attachment to each other.

This method allows you to create a tight and very accurate connection. Copper is soft and ductile enough to give it the necessary shape. But a certain skill and special equipment are required.

Rolling Technique:

  • the end of the tube is cleaned;
  • a coupling is pulled over it;
  • the end is tucked into the flare for the air conditioning tubes, the handle of the tool rotates to reach the desired edge.

Not very experienced craftsmen leave a supply of pipe up to 2.5 cm, which is used in case of unsuccessful rolling.

There are several types of flare for air conditioning tubes. The most inexpensive ones are in the form of expanders and templates. However, such flaring does not allow to give the pipe walls the same thickness; dents or bulges often remain on the surface. Best results are achieved using electric or mechanical rolling, often combined with pipe benders.

They allow you to carry out the operation quickly and accurately.

Criteria for choosing flaring for copper:

  • hole diameter;
  • pipe wall thickness;
  • grooves in the pipe;
  • protrusion size;
  • depth of flaring;
  • welding seams.

Freon line cleaning

Engineers from Mitsubishi heavy they took care of cleaning the air conditioning cold run, saving owners from replacing the freon line. They created Refresh equipment, connecting to the track and flushing the pipes. You can clean tubes of any diameter. At the same time, the insulation of the air conditioning tubes is preserved and money is saved. Flexible hoses extend from the Refresh unit to the track. Replacing the air conditioning tubes is therefore not required.
