Overview of DM type storm water inlets

DM (С250) storm water inlets are installed on highways with heavy traffic. Such base grilles are made of high quality gray cast iron. They are strong, durable and not afraid of high loads. At the same time, despite good throughput, they are small in size and relatively light in weight, which facilitates their installation.

DM storm water inlet device

A cast-iron fixture is an important component of storm sewers. It is necessary to ensure the passage of the water flow into the underground systems without large fragments of debris, as well as to protect people and animals from falling into the storm. Drains go away from the foundations of buildings, maintaining their integrity.

The storm inlet looks aesthetically pleasing and complements the urban landscape.

The well of storm sewers is a mine where water is collected from the surface. Its upper part is covered by a grill mounted on the base - a cast-iron case. From these two details the storm water inlet also consists. For durability, the product is equipped with eight or more stiffeners.

DM stormwater inlets are made of SCh20 cast iron. This metal grade makes it possible to operate devices in frosty and hot climates under heavy load. The material withstands significant temperature extremes and is not afraid of chemically aggressive substances. In addition, a special anti-corrosion coating is applied over the metal.

Specifications

The storm water inlet DM belongs to the main. The product can be either square or rectangular. In terms of size, they are of two types:

Product Type
DM1 DM2
Rectangular Square Rectangular Square
Weight, kg) 60 60 89 80
Dimensions (mm) 634x414x95 870x870x128 924x480x95 875x875x120

The sizes and configuration of the lattice openings may vary slightly, depending on the specifications used by the manufacturer. There are designs marked DM1 and round. Their cross section is 870 mm, height 115 mm. They are not in great demand due to the complexity of installation. Weigh 126 kg, which also does not add to the popularity of designs.

Additional technological characteristics of stormwater inlets DM type:

  • rated load - 250 kN .;
  • concrete mortar consumption during the installation of one device - 0,032;
  • depth of the bookmark cover - 35 mm;
  • the width of the lattice grooves is 42 mm.

A two in the marking indicates that the product is made with the smallest longitudinal width of the supporting part of the frame adjacent to the curb. Unit - the fixture has a minimum contour width indicator.

Mark on the side of cast iron products. The word “Storm water inlet” is cast there and the type, trademark and date of manufacture are prescribed.

Installation of storm water inlets

The rain receiver should be installed in the lowest part so that puddles do not accumulate

The place for the storm inlet is chosen so that the water from the pipe goes straight to the center. If it is not possible to locate the drain at the lowest point of the site, special indentations are made to it, along which water will rush into the receiver.

When mounting devices provide reliable fixation of the body of the product on the plate with concrete. The casing itself is installed over the well drain hole and is also fixed with concrete mortar.

In places where the carriageway has a strong slope, at least two rainwater inlets are installed.

Rectangular models are mounted with the flangeless side of the case to the curb stone perpendicular to the street axis.

The storm water inlet must be flush with the track, so that the product does not interfere with vehicles or pedestrians.During installation, it is controlled that it has a gap between the body of not more than 3 mm.

If the grille installation is unsuccessful, part of the effluent will flow past the stormwater inlets and collect in puddles that interfere with vehicles and pedestrians. Therefore, the installation of the product must be approached extremely responsibly.

Storm collector care

In the autumn, the grates are quickly clogged with leaves

The stormwater inlet is one of the most sensitive in terms of leaving the nodes of the storm sewer system. This is due to the fact that water flows into it directly from the surface, and all debris, leaves and dirt settle on the grate.

To make the device less clogged, it is better to install products with small mesh cells. They will hold up large and small debris, but water droplets are stronger against such a design. Their spray gradually spoils the concrete joints, which destroys the junction of the structure and the well drain.

Cleaning the device is required at least once every 3 months. Otherwise, there is a risk of clogging and odor.

The average cost of DM type storm water inlets is 5,700–6,000 rubles. Plastic products cost ten times cheaper, but cast-iron structures last much longer, withstand the maximum load and are not afraid of direct impacts.
