Overview of storm water inlets type DK

Storm sewage is an important system for discharging from the site of rain / snow runoff. An important element of communication is the storm water inlet. The shape distinguishes between square, rectangular and round patterns. Round made of cast iron in accordance with GOST. The drainage system element has different diameters depending on the model. The prices for cast-iron round storm water inlets of the DK type are approximately the same and can only slightly change up / down depending on the region of sale.

DK type storm water inlet device

The round storm water inlet (DK) plays a paramount role in the system of discharge of storm drains. Atmospheric water initially enters its reservoir. The design is as follows:

  • Rainwater collection tank (basket). From it, effluents are subsequently sent to stormwater.
  • Sand trap. A kind of filter in the tank, which prevents clogging of sewer gutters, prevents small debris, earth, sand from entering the collector.
  • Protective grill. It is installed on top of the tank and serves as a primary filter - it prevents large debris from entering the drain.

Not all models of cast-iron storm water inlets are equipped with sand traps. If it is, clean the filter regularly. This will avoid a sharp odor during periods of evaporation from the reservoir of moisture.

Specifications

All cast iron storm water inlets have specific technical characteristics, which are calculated in nominal load, dimensions and weight. Allocate such types of cast-iron recreation centers:

  • DK1. Dimensions - 86X12 cm. Weight - 97 kg. The load is 15 tons. The locking device is not provided.
  • DK2 V125 1-60. Dimensions - 85X10 cm. Weight - 88 kg. Load in tons - 12.5 tons.
  • DK2 V1501-60. Size - 80x8 cm. Weight - 105 kg. The load is 15 tons.

The weight of the whole element is indicated with the grill. Moreover, more often it is heavier than the tank itself. A third of the total mass, as a rule, is a basket, the rest is the weight of the grate.

Quality products must have the appropriate marking and GOST.

Advantages and disadvantages

All cast iron storm water inlets are made of durable cast iron SCh-20 by standards. The manufacturing method is vibrocasting. Thanks to this production method, DCs have the following advantages:

  • high strength and resistance to mechanical stress;
  • anticorrosive properties and inertness to aggressive environments;
  • high throughput (volume of drains / unit of time);
  • environmental friendliness and safety for the environment;
  • relatively favorable price.

If we talk about the shortcomings of the product, then first of all it is its weight, which requires special equipment during installation. It is important to provide for the presence of a special anti-corrosion coating, otherwise the storm water inlet will rust. In order to avoid theft during installation of a cast iron recreation center, it is better to provide a locking mechanism.

DIY installation

The main difficulty in installing the storm water inlet is to move it from place to place due to its impressive weight. The rest of the installation process is relatively simple:

  1. Prepare the pit. Its depth should exceed the height of the tank by 25-30 cm. The stock is reserved for the installation of sand-concrete pillows. The width of the pit should exceed the basket parameters by 3-5 cm.
  2. The bottom of the pit is carefully rammed and covered with a layer of wet sand. It is also well compacted. The thickness of the sand cushion is 5-15 cm.
  3. The next layer is poured concrete mortar, which will work as the base for the tank. The thickness of the interlayer is not less than 10 cm. You should wait until the concrete cushion is properly seized.
  4. On the fill set the basket of the storm water inlet and connect it to the drain troughs. All joints are coated with sealant.
  5. A layer of concrete is poured from the side of the walls in order to reliably fix the recreation center in the ground. As a result, groundwater will not be able to displace the storm water inlet over time.
  6. The installed tank is covered with a protective grill.

To ensure that the do-it-yourself storm sewer works properly, it is important to regularly clean the storm water basket and its sand traps. With this care, it is possible to prevent the accumulation of mud, debris in the tank. You need to empty the basket once every 2-4 months, more often in the summer and in the rainy seasons.

The cost of a cast-iron storm water inlet may vary depending on its model and manufacturer. Also, the price varies slightly in the regions of Russia. On average, the cost of a recreation center made in accordance with GOST is 4000 - 5300 rubles.
