Explanation of the marking and scope of the PUGB wire

Wiring in places with limited space is carried out using wires with soft conductors made of many copper wires. These devices include PuGV wires. They can be used in internal wiring as a mounting or power conductor. The electric wire has its own technical characteristics and features, which you need to familiarize yourself with before purchasing and performing electrical work.

Decoding and design

PUGB wire consists of soft cores with many copper wires

The PUGV wire marking is traditional, it has the purpose and characteristics. You can decrypt it using standard notation.

  • P - wire. Indicates the type of conductor.
  • U - installation. Shows the purpose of the conductor.
  • G - flexible. The wire was multiwire. In the PuV models, a single-wire core is used.
  • B - insulation made of PVC material.
Label on a wire coil

The wire version is single-core only. In the marking, you can also see the designations ng and ls - in this way the absence of the spread of combustion and the emission of a small volume of smoke are indicated.

In the PUFG wire there are 7 or more copper cores that are twisted together. To increase cross-section and achieve the optimum level of flexibility, the number of copper wires may increase.

The insulation of the conductor is made of the most common material in cable production - polyvinyl chloride or abbreviated PVC. The insulation is laid in one layer. Marking is applied on top at a distance of not more than 500 mm from the nearest designations. A conductor is being developed in accordance with GOST 31947-2012.

The insulation can be painted in a variety of colors. There are even products of the same color as the marking of grounding wires - yellow-green.

Specifications

Electric resistance of wires ПУГВ

PUGV mounting wire has the following characteristics:

  • Voltage 450/750 V for alternating current.
  • Voltage up to DC - up to 1000 V.
  • Frequency up to 400 Hz.
  • Operating temperatures from -50 ° to + 75 ° C.
  • Humidity up to 98%.
  • The maximum insulation temperature is up to 160 ° C.
  • The bending radius should be at least five external diameters.
  • Cross section from 0.5 sq. Mm to 400 sq. Mm.
  • Operating time 15 years. Depends on cable operating conditions. Under aggressive environmental influences (ultraviolet, rains, snow) it can be reduced to two years.
  • It can be used in the climate zone of UHL.
  • 5th class of flexibility.
  • The conductor does not spread combustion (in the case of a single installation).

You can buy a cable in bays with a length of 100 m. The actual length depends on the manufacturer, supplier or store.

Scope of application

Application of wire in the electrical panel

Product characteristics allow the use of the power PUGV wire in the installation of electrical panels, lighting groups, connecting power conductors. It is actively used in the assembly of panels and the installation of circuits in hard-to-reach places.

PUFG is often used to assemble circuits inside lighting devices due to its flexibility. In this case, it is important to observe temperature conditions - the heating should not be strong, as well as the temperature in the room itself. If the room has elevated temperatures, other heat-resistant cables (for example, RKGM) are used.

The flexibility of the cable also allows the use of PUFG in non-stationary installation of electrical equipment. But it is better in such cases to use stranded wires with double insulation - for example, PVA, ball screw. The presence of double insulation reduces the likelihood of a short circuit.

PUGB wires are laid in corrugations or cable channels in case of open electrical wiring. This allows you to protect the product from mechanical damage and the influence of ultraviolet radiation.

Analogs, manufacturers and selection of the appropriate cable

Analog PV-3

The installation wire PUGV is a complete analogue of the classic electrical installation product PV. It can completely replace devices such as PV-3 and PV-4.

Almost all Russian manufacturers offer high-quality wires. But at the same time, we can distinguish the leading domestic manufacturers of electrical products, which include:

  • Power cable;
  • Kavkazkabel;
  • Camcable.

When choosing a wire from any manufacturer, you should use the following recommendations:

  • Visual inspection of the wire. It is necessary to verify the integrity of the design and the compliance of the declared section with reality.
  • Definition of resistance veins. Can be done with an ohmmeter.
  • Conducting electrical insulation tests. To do this, its resistance is measured and high-voltage tests are carried out.
  • Check marking for correctness. Using a conductor without proper marking can be dangerous.

The product must have a special label that indicates the manufacturer, cable brand, production date, weight and length, as well as mandatory signs of conformity.

Difference from PV-3

PV-3

Wires PV-3, PV-4 and PUFG are analogues. To understand if there are differences in them, you need to understand their parameters.

PV-3 is a power element used with the declared operating voltage and direct current. It is used in cases where increased flexibility of the product is important. It has insulation that is not subject to burning and mold. Withstands temperatures up to 150 ° C.

The PUGB conductor has minimal differences that allow them to replace PV-3 and PV-4. The main difference is the number of cores. PUGV has 5 cores that make the cable more flexible. There are also minimal changes in the limiting temperature of insulation and humidity of the environment. All changes that have occurred with the cable are associated with a change in GOST, so PV-3 and PA-4 are complete analogues.
